From the project budget to the last progress invoice.

Everything spent on the project and everything invoiced from it is recorded on its analytic account, so its financial picture stays in view for as long as the work runs.

Project budget: A detailed budget by work items, materials, labour and equipment, against which actual cost is compared for the life of the project.
Invoicing by completion milestones: Invoices are issued when each milestone is complete or by the approved percentage of completion, showing what has been invoiced and what remains of the contract value.
Subcontractors: Subcontractors’ contracts, progress claims and payments are linked to the project and charged to its budget lines.
Retention: We configure the system to hold the retention percentage from every progress invoice, for the client and for the subcontractor, in a separate account until it is due for release.
Material requests and purchasing: A material request from site becomes a purchase order or an issue from the warehouse, and its cost is charged directly to the project.
Timesheets and equipment: Staff timesheets, and equipment operating hours and maintenance, all enter the cost of the project.

Projects in several companies, one picture in front of group management.

A group may include a contracting company, a materials supply company and an equipment company, all working on the same project. Odoo records each company’s share in its own books and shows the whole project to group management.

Each company has its own projects, budgets and books, with access rights that keep every team working on its own projects.
When a sister company supplies materials or hires out equipment to the project, the sales invoice and the matching vendor bill are created automatically through inter-company transactions.
Suppliers, subcontractors and products are defined once and used by all the group’s companies.

How is retention handled?

Can we see actual cost against the budget while the project is under way?
