The point of sale in Odoo is part of the same system that runs inventory and accounting, so what is sold on the screen appears in the reports without being entered a second time.

Retail and restaurants: A barcode selling screen for shops, and a restaurant interface with tables, orders and kitchen printers.
Working offline: The point of sale goes on recording sales when the internet drops, and sends the orders to the system as soon as the connection returns.
Connected to inventory: Every sale is deducted from the branch’s stock, so the need to replenish shows before an item runs out.
Connected to accounting: When the session is closed, the sales and payment entries are posted to the company’s books.

A group may own a chain of shops in one company and restaurants in another, both supplied by a sister distribution company. Everyone works on one database, and each company has its own branches and its own books.

Every point of sale belongs to its company: its sales, its cash and its entries are in that company’s books.
One product list is managed centrally, and each company decides what is shown in its branches and at what price.
Each branch has its own warehouse, and supply from the sister company goes through inter-company transactions.
Access rights keep the cashier in their session, the branch manager in their branch and the company manager in their company.

What happens if the internet goes down in the branch?

The point of sale keeps working and saves the orders on the device, then sends them to the system automatically as soon as the connection returns, and sales and stock are updated.

Can branches in different governorates be run from one system?

Yes. Each point of sale is defined with its warehouse, price list and payment methods, products and promotions are managed centrally, and management sees every branch’s sales daily.

What hardware does the point of sale run on?

The point of sale runs in the browser on a computer or a tablet, and connects to receipt printers, barcode scanners and the cash drawer. We review the hardware you already have at the discovery stage and settle which of it is suitable.

Are branch sales linked to accounting automatically?

Yes. When the cashier’s session is closed, the entries for sales, payments and till differences are posted to the books of the company the branch belongs to.
