I was 9 when I turned my keyboard into a piano.

I'm Abdullah Al-Imam. I wrote my first program at 9, in 1994, on an MSX — it turned the keyboard into a piano. Thirty years later I'm still doing the same thing at a different scale: Basic → VB6 → VB.NET → C#, Python, Java and AI, and these days building enterprise ERPs, migrating backends to Azure for 60% lower cost, and engineering Databricks pipelines that finish overnight. Over the last 9 years, the platforms I've built have moved $35M+ in client revenue.

Along the way I also shipped 3 Android & iOS games (Crazy Maze, MegaShooter, Wheels of Babylon), wrote C# course materials, and taught private classes in Arabic and English. Based in Berlin, I work directly with founders and engineering leads — no account managers, no handoffs.

Three shipped flagships. Real numbers, hard problems.

I've been lucky to own the outcome, not just the task. Here's what that looks like.

Multi-tenant SaaS 2017 — present Lead Engineer

Storeak ERP

Traditional ERP vendors couldn't serve Iraq's mid-market — Arabic-first, B2B2C at scale, per-tenant customization. Built from scratch on .NET + Azure in 2017. 9+ years in production, $35M+ in client revenue, 30+ microservice APIs today.

Ultra Tendency — Enterprise Workflow Platform

Three years embedded on large-scale enterprise engagements. QA lead on 200+ production Camunda workflows — money and timeseries pipelines at enterprise scale — alongside Databricks + Spark on the hot path. Shipped a .NET Core 2.1 → 6.0 migration along the way, 30% perf gain.

Bayan B2B E-commerce

Took over a sprawling Azure estate running hot. Consolidated 5 integrated systems, rearchitected to microservices, and rewrote the cost model from the VM up.

Three things I do, well.

Productized engagements with clear outcomes. I'd rather say no than pretend to be good at something I'm not.

Root-Cause Audit & Turnaround

Bring me the problem you can't define. Cost bloat, slow pipelines, stuck migrations, process chaos — I find the actual cause and write the prescription with numbers. 60% Azure cost reduction at Bayan. 30% perf gain on a .NET Core 2.1→6 migration. QA on 200+ enterprise Camunda workflows.

Questions buyers actually ask.

Three ways, depending on what you need: (1) Fixed-scope sprints (my favorite) — defined outcome, fixed timeline, fixed price. (2) Monthly retainer — 2–4 days/week on an ongoing basis. (3) Hourly — for short reviews, architecture sessions, or pinch-hitting on a critical incident.
I'm registered as a regular Freiberufler in Berlin — not §19 Kleinunternehmer. That means I charge VAT (19%) to German clients and have full tax paperwork. EU reverse-charge for EU B2B clients with valid VAT IDs. Simple.
Remote-first. I'm in Berlin and happy to be in the room for a kickoff or a critical design session (EU travel is easy). For ongoing work I'm remote — that's where the deep work happens.
I'm comfortable across .NET/Azure, Databricks, Unity, Flutter, and Nuxt 3. I'm happy to say no to what I don't know — I won't learn Rails on your dime. If you're on a stack I don't know well, I'll tell you upfront.
Yes, I sign NDAs — send yours and I'll turn it around in a day. IP transfers on payment, standard work-for-hire. I keep no rights to client code; I only keep the right to say "I worked on this" at a high level, unless the NDA says otherwise.
30-min call → written scope within 48 hours → start within 2 weeks of signing. Typical lengths: Fractional CTO 6–12 months rolling, platform build 3–9 months to MVP, audit & turnaround 2–4 weeks to diagnose, short reviews 1–5 days.

One slot open for Q3. Is it yours?
